Product Review: Slim Fast Optima Peanut Butter Crunch snack bar

OMG. These are sooooo tasty! They taste just like a Butterfinger bar- I swear! They are 28 grams which is just slightly larger than a Butterfinger miniature bar. So as far as taste is concerned- 5 stars! The Slim Fast snack bar is a bit lighter, not quite as dense in the middle as a Butterfinger is...and both crumble all over your desk when you bite into them.

The disappointing difference between them and Butterfinger miniatures is that the Butterfinger miniature is actually fewer calories at 100 calories whereas the Slim Fast snack bar is 120 calories. They have the same amount of fat grams and neither has any fiber. And the Butterfinger miniature is only 2 points where as the Slim Fast bar is 3. So you could save yourself 20 calories and 1 point and just have a Butterfinger miniature. Although, if you divide the number of calories per gram in the Butterfinger miniature size (21 grams) to match the number of grams in a Slim Fast snack bar (28 grams), the Butterfinger miniature, would be then be higher in calories and fat.

Also, the cost is about $5 for a box of only 6 Slim Fast snack bars...you could buy a whole bag of about 15 Butterfinger miniature bars for less than that. So I suppose you are really paying for the Slim Fast name...sure there is additional vitamins and minerals added to the snack bar but when you get a chocolate craving, who is really thinking about how many vitamins and minerals are in your chocolate? Not I!

Bottom Line: As de-lish as these are, I would rather save myself some money, that 1 Weight Watcher point, and 20 extra calories and go for the Butterfinger miniature bars.
