Walking the Path to Fitness & Health

Health is all we have. Money may make life a blast, but health, spiritual, physical and mental cannot be bought with money so my focus is on keeping myself healthty and active so I wont be a burden to others because of my lifestyle, food and activity choices.

Since I’ve checked in.  I’ve been very, very busy at work sometimes doing a 14/15 hour stent to meet an important deadline, no overtime ‘cause I’m an exempt employee.  Still worked out and still tool the Wii Fit Plus Body Control Test.   Also has my appointment with my endocrinologist this past Monday and my Type II is well under control; however, that tight control may be coming at the expense of my blood pressure cause I’m more than likely going very low.  In fact I know that I’m going low, under 60 because Sunday I picked up a low reading.

My A1c was 5.7 which is equivalent to an average blood glucose reading of 111, averages means there are highs and lows and I know during the time the A1c covered (3 months), I had a week of readings (had the flu) that was well over 140, in fact one reading went to 198.

I’m not going to back-track and post all my numbers since the last time I posted, but here is today’s body control numbers:

BMI:               23.55, was 22.93 yesterday, I had a late dinner ‘cause I worked late, again.

Weight:           132.9, yesterday it was 129.4

Wii Age:          24, yesterday it was 26

Fasting Blood Glucose:           105, yesterday 97

I noticed when I do circuit training or HIRT (High Intensity Resistance Training – five ten minutes of resistance, with about 2 minutes of cardio, after 24 hours I get numbers below 100.  Yesterday I did all cardio thus the 105, hmmm.

Yesterday’s Workout:  All Step Aerobics        62 minutes       Total calorie burn       370 approx.

Make it a Blessed and Highly Favored Day,

I had to take a class on Monday for work about new information related to diabetics and glucose control. It was all very interesting but I'm glad to see your A1C is at a great level. Hope all keeps going well!

Hey space jockey please, please take care of yourself. Really find out how your body works because it doesn't work like everybdy and/or every diabetic. Then exercise, exercise, exercise and do both aerobic and anaoarobic (resistance/strength; stop/start stuff like basketball, tennis, etc) activities. Aerobic knocks your blood glucose down while you are walking, jogging, etc. and counters insulin resistance. The benefits of Anaorobic kicks in between 24/36 hours later by increasing your body's muscle mass and decreasing fat cells. As a diabetic you really want more muscle mass then fat.

All the best to you and you can counter the effects of Type II, you'll still be diabetic but your body won't be ravaged by all that excess sugar floating in you.

I'm actually not diabetic, but I'll keep the advice in mind for the patients I work with. Thanks again!
