Friday:

Got out for a long walk with the pup today. I’m only counting it as 20 minutes, though, because a lot of the time was spent stopping so she could sniff things. It was sunny with a breeze today, yet my allergies weren’t too bad so maybe the pollen is subsiding. Thank goodness.

Back!

Woops, I fell way off the wagon for a time there. 8 days, I think. I was so sick, and consequently so depressed and anxious, that the effort I was putting into losing weight had to be redirected into just making it through the day. As it turns out, my illness may have been entirely due to allergies. I was so certain that allergies couldn’t have made me feverish, nauseous, weak, sore and exhausted like they did, but upon hearing that the pollen count in my area has been 11 times higher than the normal average for this already high-allergen time of year, I looked into it further and found that sometimes allergies do cause all those symptoms. Plus, everyone I know in this town is experiencing similar things. 2 days ago at the pharmacy it looked like some epidemic had broken out. The place was packed with red-eyed, runny nosed people clutching packages of Flonase.

Challenge II, Day 17

I felt awful again today. Apparently I have some bizarre illness that only affects me every other day. People keep insisting that it's allergies, but I've had allergies for years and they've never put me out like this. I had absolutely no energy today. I had to sit on the floor in front of the stove while I was cooking because I was afraid I'd fall down if I tried to stand too long.

I didn't count calories and I didn't even consider exercising.

challenge II day 16

I only got 3 hours of sleep last night, and didn't get a chance to rest all day. I am DELIRIOUS right now. I can't wait to go to bed, but I have and hour and a half's worth of work to drudge through first.

Exercise:
20 minute walk
pumping up tires by hand

Breakfast: raisin bran, banana
Brunch: carrot raisin salad
Lunch: deli sandwich
Dinner: beef and mushroom soup, bread

Challenge II day 15

Booooo, I was feeling cruddy again today. Maybe I shouldn't have jumped back into a big workout yesterday. I wasn't able to work out at all today. But, I ate pretty well.

Breakfast- Nonfat Vanilla yogurt and pineapple
Brunch- carrot raisin salad and toast with peanut butter
Lunch- deli sandwich
Dinner- the rest of that darn pizza
Fluids- 20 oz water, 16 oz diet pepsi

[1676 calories]

Tomorrow I'll try a moderate workout, so that I wont wear myself out and I can get back to working out regularly.

Challenge II Week 2 review

Weight change for this week: +3.1 pounds
Total weight change for this challenge: -0.8 pounds

It's a wash. This week's downslide negated all last week's progress. I'm not going to dwell on it, though. I started feeling better today and I hopped right back on track. It felt so good to finally get some exercise that I probably overdid it a bit. I pulled out the wii sports disc today and did some tennis and boxing . The boxing really gets me sweating, more than the rhythm boxing on wii fit. I plan on incorporating that into my workout more often.

Today...

Exercise:
27 minutes wii fit- cycling (island view course), obstacle course, basic step x2, soccer heading x3
22 minutes wii sports- 10 min tennis, 12 min boxing
7 minutes elliptical

[total:56 minutes/ 376 calories]

Diet:
Breakfast- egg substitute and a slice of bacon (roomie made the bacon), raisin bran
Brunch- half a deli sandwich (turkey/roast beef/ham) and carrot raisin salad
Lunch- large slice of pizza
Dinner- morningstar chik patty, refried beans and cheese
Snacks- strawberries (they're so good right now!)
Fluids- 20 oz water, 16 oz diet pepsi

Challenge II, Day 13-still sick

Damn. I thought I was getting better, but I spent half the day in bed again. I'm going into the doc on Monday morning. I'm suspicious that this is the swine flu.
