New Year! New Start! But........

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry I haven’t been around at all except to answer some quick emails. Honestly, first I went to my mom’s in BC over Christmas as my children were with their dad and staying home alone was far too depressing. In order to keep working out, because I was loving it so much, I convinced her she needed to get a Wii & Wii Fit Plus for herself. (I bought it for her and she paid me back, she recently had knee surgery and does not get around very well yet and it is cheaper where I live as we have no local sales tax). I also picked up EA Active Sports for me J.

Of the 5 days I was away from home, 2 of them were spent getting there and getting home. However, for the 3 days I was there I got in three good workouts! Yay! Even on Christmas Day! Let me tell you EA Active is awesome although I definitely recommend you start at beginner unless you are in really good shape already. Anyway, once I got home and started to settle in a chain of events occurred and I have yet to work out again. I intended to start back up last Monday, then Wednesday when boys went back to school, then yesterday, trying to get back into routines and all that. Well, it seems I have some sort of breathing problem (part of the chain of events in days prior) that may (or may not) be walking pneumonia (based on what I’ve told friends, I had never heard of it), and every time I engage in physical activity no matter how light I end up with severe shortness of breath. Yesterday I shovelled snow off my deck in three, 15-minute spurts, as well as quite a bit of physical house cleaning, and by 5:00 PM, I was completely exhausted.

Fortunately, I have a doctor appointment already on Tuesday, so hopefully I can get some sort of answer to an issue that is now been going on since the 30th of December. In the meantime, I’ll attempt to at least get back to some healthy eating and maybe do some yoga at least. It’s just terribly frustrating. I had finally started to show a weight loss and now I’m scared to even look LoL. Ever onward!

Keep up the good work everyone!

If you are sick, do not push yourself to exercise like you have in the past few months. Take it easy and do some light workouts.

I am out with my knee (as I am sure you have read). I do a dumbbell workout for my arms, lats, and chest. I stand up (sometimes) and get the lower body workout as well. It is modified, but it definitely gives me the increased heart rate that is necessary to exercising.

However, dont do that with walking pneumonia. Just let it heal up before it gets worse.

I hope your knee heals quickly, injuries are very frustrating. Until Tuesday I won't know for sure what is causing this breathing issue. I can't catch my breath, it lasts about 48 hours, improves some for a day, then repeats itself and is worse the more physical I am. I have a gf that is a nurse, and after I explained I tried process of elimination of diet, meds & supplements, tried antihistamines and both my puffers and nothing helps, she said process of eliminations suggests it may be the walking pneumonia. Me being me, I researched it (having never heard of it) and it's still iffy in my mind, but nothing else makes sense. At least it's treatable. I just shoveled for 2 minutes on my deck and my heart is pounding and I'm out of breath, this is lame, and I'm so motivated to get stuff done, it just figures. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no manner of luck at all LoL!

My kid had it for two weeks. We took jer tp the doc and get her some steroids to get rid of it. Worked like a champ. Three days later she was up and about (or aboot for my Canuck friends).

Definitely weigh yourself at the same time everyday. I made that mistake (and still do) and the changes can be very surprising from the beginning of the day till the end of the night. My mom had that walking pneumonia for about four weeks before she got in checked. They gave her an inhaler and an antibiotic so you may be on the same thing. I may have a touch of it myself but it's much more tolerable due to all the Vitamin C I eat daily.

+1 for EA Active. I'm lucky I started on Friday so I have a few days at work to rest my legs. Literally they have been aching since I finished Friday. I'm going to post a review in a few weeks on how I use it to complement my Fitting in case anyone else is debating on getting it. Wishing you luck at your appointment Tuesday.

Haha Maaul, we do NOT say aboot smilies/tongue.gif, unless maybe from Cape Breton! And we don't all say "eh?" either LOL. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I'm sure it'll be fine. Space, I take vitamins daily, including 1000 mg of vitamin C in the winter, so perhaps it would be worse without. I have two inhalers, neither seem to help, but I may need the antibiotic too. Thanks mlb, I'm glad I already had an appt. my doc is hard to get into. I am trying not to push too hard, but today is one of the better days so I'm doing as much as I can and hopefully not too much. smilies/cool.gif

Oh Space, I do try to weigh myself at the same time when I do it, although I only check in weekly. Most trainers recommend not doing it more often.
