Need a fourth routine... Print this page
I am working on specific areas of the body on specific days of the week to tone and strengthen the areas up. It's a way to let other parts rest while still getting a good burn.

My schedule:
Mondays - arms
Tuesdays - legs
Wednesdays - off
Thursdays - abs
Fridays - ???

My problem is I don't know what to do on Fridays. Cardio is an option but I'd like to keep cardio at a minimum since it will tone, but it won't help me bulk up. Also I get a somewhat decent amount of cardio mixed in with the other days. What area could I work on on Fridays that I am missing? Also I'm limited to the exercises that are on Wii Fit, EA:SA and EA:MW because they are all I use. Thanks in advance.

The only muscle groups you've missed really to bulk up on are chest and maybe back/shoulder as they're not always worked properly within the abs or arm workouts. No idea what actual exercises you could do I'm afraid but it's a suggestion of an area to work on.

When you do core (ab) exercises, do you also do your back (upper and lower)? You should consider adding that to your routine, if not, so your entire core is worked in balance. Also, core exercises can be done with each workout and don't need any days of rest like other muscles, so what about Monday (arms), Wednesday (legs), Friday (cardio) all with 5-10mins of ab/back? Or, Monday (arms), Tuesday (legs), Wednesday (off), Thursday (arms), Friday (legs), all with abs/back included. That might help you bulk up a bit faster.

Have you been increasing your intake of protein? Maybe try a shake after working out?

When I do core exercises I try to stay strictly to core exercises. Granted most core exercises work out other areas as well, shoulders and back...especially on Wii Fit. I could probably do a little bit of abs everyday but I'd kind of like to keep it on a separate day, or possibly two days worth if I can handle it. When I do abs just once I can feel it working. If I throw a few ab exercises in with my other routines I don't get that same feeling, which to me means it isn't working. I know I'm probably wrong there but it's my current mindset. I have been increasing my protein by at least 50% since last week cause I know I'll need it to bulk up.

I noticed a strange new shape on my arm today though when doing some crunches. It looked like a tricep muscle. Color me shocked!

Why not have a collection of different exercises that work on the whole body? For example, one week you could walk or cycle for an hour, the next you could do quarter of an hour on each part of the body, and cardio for however long the next. I find that mixing things up makes it a lot more interesting, and as each activity uses different muscles, you'd get a pretty balanced long-term workout =]

I thought with all the exercise my legs had been getting from riding, I would be able to ride my bike so much better. Turns out you use completely different parts of the leg! O.o
