Wii Fit has changed my life! Print this page
I am new to this blog...wanted to see how others were doing with Wii Fit...I am loving it...up at about 4:30 every morning, because i have to be at work at 7:15.
I started about 55 days ago. For the first month, i used the Disc that the Wii came with. Then I got the Active Workouts CD...I think I sweat more on that one, but get little to no ab work, so i just switch over after i am done and do some of my favorite yoga and tummy games...I am currently doing the 30 day challenge. I would say that I work out 5-6 days a week (I usually take off Wednesdays). I was sick for 3 days, and started to stress that I was missing workouts. I actually tried one morning and got so dizzy, I had to force myself to stop! But it is funny how motivated I have become!

I think what I love about WII FIT so much is the convenience, predictability, the flow and shortness of each workout...I figure a well rounded, sweat-inducing workout for 25-40 minutes 6 days a week, is a lot better than a grueling (sp?) 60 minute workout 3-4 days a week...and I am motivated to eat right every day. In the 55 days I have been doing this, I have indulged myself with guilt food/drink ONLY twice...and once was on my birthday...and still lost!
generally, i am eating from every food group...lots of fruits and veggies, fiberous carbs, non-meat proteins, and little sugar/fat.

I have LOST 14 pounds (nowadays it seems to be about 2.2 pounds a week). I think that is a great accomplishment and that I am moving at a healthy pace. I want to come here and see how others are doing, hopefully to stay motivated or to help others stay motivated!
I need to lose about 40 more, i think...I'd like to lose another 25-30 by mid-end of June!

Happy Monday all!

Hiya!!
Great to hear this is working for you, Jen.
I have a question, though. I have stopped going to the gym now, for about 3 weeks. Took a little break, was pretty bad in my eating habits and am now ready to try something new. I was sick of the gym and the same "shite" every day.
DO I just generate a workout on the generator and follow it? Does it actually give you the workout you need in order to firm up?
Any tips or advice from anyone?
What is the ideal time to do a workout on the Wii Fit?
ANy ideas or suggestions or advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.

The routine you do should depend on the goals you want to achieve. Since it sounds like you want to firm up I'd say you want to do strength training. I'd suggest going to Wii Fit Workouts, choosing the length of time you want to work out then choose strength training. It has a list of composed exercises with different difficulty levels that will help you tone up the body.

Hi Eva, sorry it took me so long to get back to you...what Space Jockey says is very true...the strength training should be a huge part of your workout...have you tried it yet? How is that going?
In terms of the time to do it, I have been very torn about that...I get up at 4:30 just about every morning (except weekends I sleep in a bit), becasue I have to be at work pretty early (I'm a teacher). The thing, is, I know myself and the last thing I wanna do after work is work out...the pros are that I get it over with early, I feel energized and motivated during the day, and I can come home and chill, guilt free...the problem is, even when I try to be in bed by 9:30-10:00, I am just not getting as much sleep as I should be getting...they say sleep is good for weight loss, so I have been a bit torn, but I have chosen to lose the sleep and get the workout...nowadays, i am more invested in my health, so I will add 2-3 days of walking to my 6 days of Wii Fit but even that is hard to squeeze out at the end of the day.

If you are looking to tone, more than to lose weight, then our goals are different, but I suggest you just be honest with yourself and do whatever it takes to make sure you get your sessions in...luckily, Wii Fit is fun...I would also suggest the ACTIVE WORKOUTS program...they have A LOT of great strength training exercises, which I devote my last 7 pounds to!

The other thing I have been doing to help me really invest in my health is I write EVERYTHING down that I put in my mouth, calculate the calories, and take notes on my activities/workouts that day...it really keeps me motivated to make good choices...I have always heard about people doing it, but thought it would be a hassle...it really isn't, once you get started...I love it, and I can go back and look at patterns of eating, weight loss, etc and look at the correlations....

For instance, i have only lost 2-3 pounds in the last 3 weeks...I kept with my routine, but I just had spring break, so i drank a lot more...that slowed me down...but on the days that I drank, I still kept my calories under 1,800...(most days I am under 1,600)
But the strength training might be contributing to that as well...I am down a size and a half in pants and 4 inches in bra size...so the fat is going, but the muscle is forming!

RED FLAG (if this pertains to any of you)...my knees have been really bothering me for the past two weeks...I think I have been pushing myself too far and may be suffering from some tendonitis (sp?)...I also injured my foot somehow...I think this happened to me because of all the weight I am bearing (I guess you could call me obese, but I am much more fit than most people at my weight--lots of natural muscle)...but whatever you wanna call it, I have decided to go back to only LOW IMPACT workouts until this goes away. I refuse to let it get in my way, but, I am trying to have a baby in the next year and need to be able to get down on the floor...too much at stake here...

PLEASE take care of yourself, whatever you do!

Good luck! (man, can I babble!)

I would agree that the Wii Fit can change your life, but only if you put a bit of effort into it.

I am happy with my progress - 17 lbs off in 23 weeks. At the beginning there was a lot of ups and downs, but now I eat and drink the same things on a 2 week basis, because of my work shift patterns and I don't vary my diet a lot which works for me now - i have virtually cut out fries, maybe once every 2 weeks instead of about 7 times. I eat a lot of boiled rice instead of fries. I don't store a lot of alcohol in house - I don't buy 15 cans of beer like I used to - they used to last a week tho! I go to pub every other Sunday night and have a small pack of 6 bottles of beer the following Sat night - 99 calories per bottle, so don't think I drink excessively.

The wii is also a fun workout, not too strenuous - depends what you do I suppose.

Good luck to all

Hi all...

Kiwizzie...ACTIVE WORKOUTS is a separate disc, yes! I started out with the original disc and then switched to that...I am now on the MORE Active Workouts disc. I have changed up discs about each month, becasue the body needs a change up, or it gets used to the same routine and becomes less effective...nowadays, I am trying the 60-day challenge on the More Active Workouts disc Sun, Tue, Thurs, Sat, and the original one mon, Fri, and I take Wed's off...This has been for the last two weeks...still to early to tell if this is effective or not...

I'm now down 24 pounds and averaging 1.5-2.0 loos every week/week and half. I have 19 more pounds left to lose before my honeymoon and before we start trying to have a baby (let's pray I am ready for both of those at the same time--wink wink!)

Keep on doin it guys and gals! I'm rooting for you, friends! How are things going for you EVADIAB and RABBIEBOY?! you stickin to it?! :0)
