First week with Wii Fit Print this page
So I just started Wii Fit (not plus)
and I keept gaining and losing the same freakin pound the first 4 days! I have also started a diet and this morning I have apparently gained 2.3 pounds!!!!

what the heck is going on?!
Anyone else experience this in the beginning?

Also, I was wondering, is it best to just do the aerobics to lose weight?

Any and all help is appreciated.

(cursing my trainer who I have named Helga lol)

Is the Balance Board on the same level surface each time you use it? Or is it on a thick carpet? Sometimes little things like this can throw the readings off.

I put the things on for use on carpet, it's the same spot all the time, I am using it, hubby and my son. (yes we're a chubby family lol)

I am so proud of my boy! he started 4 days ago and lost 2.6 lbs!
Hubby is losing a bit as well,
I wish I could blame the carpet LoL

Re:First week with Wii Fit Print this page
It's not uncommon to fluctuate in weight, even gaining weight for short periods of time, when going through a long term diet. However, if you've just started, you should see a loss over the first couple of days

I did see that you weight yourself after starting the diet today. If you do want to know your weight daily, it's best to weigh yourself once right when you get out of bed, and don't do it again until the next day. Keep in mind that most dietitians and trainers will tell you not to weight yourself that often after starting a diet. The reason for this is that fluctuations, like these, can get you discouraged. Plus, if you are working out, you are also gaining muscle, so you may even see a gain once in a while.

Different clothing everyday can vary the weight the board reads. Sometimes if you weigh yourself twice in a row, you can get a difference in up to a pound either way depending on your balance and the level surface of the board. Diet and exercise take time to be effective. Exercising generates alot of sweating, so you may be drinking alot of water or other fluids to replace the water lost. That can be a cause of the weight gain.

From personal experience I tend to only weigh myself once a week. That way I know I'm doing good for my body and so I don't focus solely on the numbers as a sign of being healthy. Portion control and eating alot of fruit is all I've basically done for my dietary changes and it helped me lose almost 30 pounds in 5 months. Anything that increases your heart rate and makes you sweat will help lose weight. Whether that be Super Hula Hoop, free-run, lots of yoga or anything else. If you're sweating, getting tired and getting sore muscles you are burning fat.
