Not getting anywhere STILL Print this page
So it's been 3 weeks and so far.....
and... (drum roll)

NOTHING.
I lose 3 lbs and overnight magically I gain back 2.7 lbs.
I lose 1.5 lbs and I gain 3lbs.

I am on this freakin thing for 1 hr sometimes 2 hrs EVERYDAY, I havn't had anything sweet in over 3 weeks. Nothing fried, very bland high fiber crap, and NOTHING.
I do not eat after 9pm (I'm a late bird) No soda no bread I don't get it.
I do not have a thyroid problem, I do not have high sugar nor do I have high blood pressure.

If I hear about how great my balance and posture is then follow it up by saying you put your foot down didn't you? just one more time I am going to throw a double cheese burger and fries at the damn T.V.

I find that the very second that she says Your doing great! I fall of the board.
So I have found the mute button rather useful.

I had to get this off my chest, if the wii fit is working for you.. That's great. If it's not let's ban together and find who designed the trainers and hang them.

Alright, deep breath in, deep breath out.

Repeat after me: "I'm gaining muscle weight."

I know it's frustrating. I didn't see any results til 4 weeks into it. Just try to stay motivated.

What workouts are you doing? Don't forget to take a rest day now and then. (2ce a week is what the experts suggest)....

And treat yourself to something nice for the motivation and the endurance you've been showing. It's great!

If it helps at all, I'm proud of you, and I am sure you'll see results soon.

M.

Hi winerypair,
yes you being proud does help! I get encouragement from hubby and my son (who are also doing wii fit as well)
I am doing 20 min yoga 20 min strength and 20 min advanced stepping.

Today I decided to cut the strength and fill the time with freestep.
(pondering losing the yoga as well)

I want chocolate soooo bad! and not just a little.. I would like to drown in a pool of it right now

Re:Not getting anywhere STILL Print this page
You never mentioned if you were overweight or underweight. It's possible gaining weight is what you need depending on your current size since we have no idea. I work out 4-5 days a week for about an hour a day, but I don't shun the calories. Even if you are eating lots of high fiber taste like crap food, if you're exceeding 2000 calories that extra usually goes to weight. Most people who exercise about an hour a day eat about a 2000 calorie diet and lose roughly a pound a week on average.

Also it sounds like your cutting everything out cold turkey. Generally that makes it hard to stick to any diet plan because you end up hating what you can have and not end up sticking with the plan. You can still have things like chocolate, soda and frozen pizzas and what not, just limiting how often you have them or how much you have is what most people do. I got a bag of mini reeses peanut butter cups and have a few when I have the urge, but I don't overindulge.

If you really want to lose weight you want cardio cardio cardio. That works the best, anything that makes you sweat is working off the weight. The board is sometimes inconsistent. Its weight estimate can vary up to 1-2 pounds on consecutive weighings so don't feel too bad. Also normal weight fluctuates up to 2 pounds per day normally.

Hope this helps.

Re:Not getting anywhere STILL Print this page
Hi Space Jockey,
I wish I needed to gain weight! That would be easy for me to do!
I have limited my calorie intake to around 1200 calories. Going cold turkey on the junk food was sorta needed, I am not famous for my will power lol.
however, we do allow ourselves a cheat day, not going over board but more like a candy bar and some fries (yum!)
Leaner meats, more veggies limiting fruit (I have heard that some fruits have more sugar and are not as good for you) But I am not sure what fruit they are talking about. I am setting the goal to no more than 3lbs a week even though I need to lose way more than that! But I know if I set it to high I will get more discouraged than what I am now.
Other family members see a difference, but the scale says otherwise.
I know WII Fit has helped so many people my own sister included, hubby's tummy is going down even my son is losing...

Think I am just gonna try a full week of just cardio see if that makes a difference.
Maybe the strength training is building muscle as winerypair said (gaining muscle mass) I don't want muscles, I want to shop at a store where I dont have to say Hey, wheres the fat girl clothes!

Re:Not getting anywhere STILL Print this page
I think a vital thing that most people tend to forget is to take a second look at what you are eating. Many people buy 'low fat' foods and wonder why they're not losing any weight. My mother's near religious on this and will tell me in great detail at every opportunity:
It's not the fat content you need to look for, it's the sugar. If a food is advertised as low fat, it's probably stuffed to the brim with sugars and artificial crap. And if you don't burn off the sugar, the sugar will turn to fat.
I hear this so much at home it makes me want to rip my hair out when I'm shopping for lunch with friends and they instantly grab things and say 'I'll have this, look! it says low fat!' I'll take it off them and point to the exceedingly high sugar content, and they won't think anything of it. It's so annoying to be well educated when everyone else around you remains ignorant of these things!! XD
So yeah, I'd recommend really checking the labels. And walking. Whenever you have free time, go for a walk! a nice long one. Explore your area and try to find hidden paradises, you can be surprised at what you find, and how much you can lose from such a low intensity workout!

Good luck! xx

Re:Not getting anywhere STILL Print this page
It's almost impossible to get below the limit of sugar the RDA recommends (40g). My morning pop tart 2-pack have 80% the daily amount of sugar in them. Cereal is much better but sometimes you need something on the go. Even one nutri-grain type bar has 25% the daily amount. Drinks don't do us any justice either. I quit drinking pop several months ago but even my juices have up to 35g per bottle. There's no way around it, and there's no way to remove it from our food since sugar dissolves so completely.

People hate going shopping with me because I read labels quite often.

another reason you may not be losing the weight is portion control I weigh all cereals pasta rice and meat it is suprising when you do check the amounts how much more you actually eat, also many so called health foods may be low in fat but high in sugar so I tend to avoid these hope this helps
