Unrealistic Weight Estimations? Print this page
Does anyone think the ideal body weights suggested by Wii Fit Plus are a teeny bit unrealistic?

As a 5'4, 40 year young female, I was informed by a doctor that my ideal weight range is 130 - 143 lbs. (59.1 - 65 kg.).

Wii Fit Plus gave me a 109-125 lbs estimation (although my Wii Age did come back 3 years younger than my real age, so hooray for that!).

I'm just curious if anyone else got a result that seemed like it might be a bit unrealistic?

Re:Unrealistic Weight Estimations? Print this page
Short answer: Yes

I'm 6'4" and the game says my ideal weight is 180.6 I have a hard time believing that because my nutrition class went over this and said my ideal weight is about 210 which I started out just a bit over. Some websites on here are saying my ideal weight is 190, others are saying 200, still others are saying 220. I think the higher weights are ok as long as most of it is muscle mass. It's hard to know which calculation tool is correct so I'm really only going on what the game says for now. Personally I'm aiming for a lot of lean muscle and if that means I'm at 220 but look buff I'll be happy with it. At least I think I'll be happy with it.

They are way off in my opinion. I just got my wii fit yesterday and did the intro. I am 5'11 and it said my weight should be 154 lbs. I think not! I would look like a strung out crack head if I got down that low. I don't think it would even be healthy.

I'm 5'3 and it told me that I should be 125, when a doc told me I was right on target at 155.

Yes... I just got my Wii Fit Plus yesterday, and I'm 32 years old and about 6'0" tall. It told me I should be 165 lbs, which I might have been in 9th grade, and I recall my biceps being about as big around as my wrists then. It seems too small to me. I was in great shape a few years ago when I weighed about 215lbs. Maybe it's designed for the Japanese with smaller body frames???

I'm the same height, and my doc wants me at about 135, as I have a medium frame.

Me: 5'8" (medium build) and 140 pounds... Wii Fit said I was dead on normal

Girlfriend: 5'0" (small build) and 97 pounds... Wii Fit said she was a bit underweight

Our weights seemed to be pretty good. Neither one of us is "skinny" exactly, just average, but Wii Fit was bought to be used for toning mostly (and fun).

They should have a small, medium, and large body frame option though... it wouldn't be that hard to incorporate.

I think it really does depend on the frame of a person. I'm 5'7" and weigh 140. Wii Fit says I'm normal, but I would like to lose about 15 pounds. My frame is pretty small.

Re:Unrealistic Weight Estimations? Print this page
I completely agree. Although the weight goal they gave me is what I would describe my ideal weight to be. I have quite a small frame. I'm 5ft 2 with small features. Basically I'm a tiny person So the goal they set me is the goal I'm aiming for.

However, at the moment it has me at the top end of the normal scale....Dangerously close to be described as overweight. But looking at me it's laughable to suggest I'm close to being oveweight. A little bit of Christmas weight handing on - sure! No one in their right mind would say I was overweight though and to be honest it's pretty harsh and disheartening to step on the scales and be told that you're nearly overweight!
