Hip or foot injuries from Wii Fit use? Print this page
I LOVE MY (kids') WII FIT PLUS!!!! The convenience can't be beat--so much easier than dressing, driving to the gym, undressing , etc.

The question I have is this: Since getting the Wii Fit and working out regularly, I've developed a strain of some kind in one toe. It throws my balance way off for yoga. I didn't realize how importatnt those toes are! I don't know exactly what it is, and should probably have a Dr check it out, but who has time! It's not debilitating, so I just take it easy for a few days.

I've also developed some aching in my hips which I've never experienced with other kinds of exercise. It's not the normal post exercise muscle aches--it definitely feels more joint-related.

I use the higher impact exercises such as Basic Run Plus (It's so cool to follow my with my cat Mii!!) and Island Cycling.

I've used the yoga mat and a cushy cover for the board, so I've tried to develop a softer surface. Ive also started wearing running shoes, but the aches are still there.

Any other such experiences out there?

If you're actually running in place for the runs, especially without shoes, that could be a cause. As a lifelong runner, running in place does way more damage to my body than running outside does. Try jogging (with shoes!) around your house. The range on the remote is pretty decent, and if you have stairs you could even run up them for added benefit.
