Review of My Fitness Coach and Gold's Gym
So I recently signed up for the Gamefly free trial and I decided to rent Gold's Gym and My Fitness Coach so that I could tell you all how they are. First let me say that I absolutely love Gold's Gym, so this review is going to be a bit bias. I literally played for maybe 20 minutes before I just went out and bought the game.
My favorite exercise routine for Wii Fit regular is the rhythmic boxing, and Gold's Gym takes this to the next level. The way the game teaches you how to box is dead on accurate with all the martial arts I've ever learned, and this is coming from someone with 15 years of martial arts experience including Tai Chi, Wu Shu, Capoeira, Tai Kwon Do and Mixed Martial Arts. The 6 types of punches, the dodges, the rhythm and footwork are all first rate. Not to mention this game really kicks your ass. If you aren't getting enough of a workout from the regular wii fit I dare you to try Gold's Gym for 30 minutes. You can even step it up and add wrist weights and then you'll really feel the burn. I guarantee even people who think they're in good shape can get something out of this game.
Now about My Fitness Coach, honestly, if you like the Wii Fit Routine Generator then you'll love this game. I was a bit disappointed that the game has the routine generator built in (I mean I thought my routine generator idea was original), but it is an excellent feature so I couldn't expect to be the only one with the idea lol. The game also has invaluable weight and exercise level tracking. It requests body measurements so that it can accurately tell you what your fitness level instead of estimating with the very inaccurate BMI that the regular Wii Fit uses. My Fitness Coach is definitely Wii Fit Squared. The fitness level of the game is about the same as the regular wii fit, but it provides a much more structured approach to losing weight and measuring your goals.
All in all, depending on your goals for the wii fit, these games make fine additions to your virtual gym.
