Wii Fit Piggy Credits: 2 min
How to unlock: At the beginning

Muscle Group: Tones your thighs, calves, ankles and back. This pose is an excellent balance builder.

  • Place your left foot on the inside part of your right leg with the toes pointing downward. (I like to do this with my standing leg slightly bent)
  • Make sure your hips are parallel to the floor, and that your back is straight, then bring your hands into prayer position in front of your chest.
  • Breathe deeply and relax. Concentrate on a single point if it helps you retain your balance.

  • Advanced: Close your eyes and concentrate on your breath.  How still can you remain?

I bought the Wii Fit at the weekend and have been using it for the past 3 nights. Every time, I do as many Yoga poses as are available to me but find the ones where you have to stand on one leg (such as this one) very difficult.

Is this because I am so overweight and has anyone else faced this problem? Will it get easier the more weight I lose? Anybody?? smilies/smiley.gif

This may be an issue. However, you can definitely work on your balance by playing some of the balance games. I learned early on that the balance board took some getting used to. I enjoyed the skiing game a lot, and after playing it so often, I found my balance became much better. Try that out and see if it helps. It may take a week or so until you start seeing a drastic change. The balance games will also help your core muscles so you can steady yourself easier. Good luck smilies/grin.gif

Thanks, i'll give that a try. The balance games seemed like a bit more fun that exercise and didn't really look like they would help much so I was focusing on Yoga, Muscle and Aerobic training. I see what you mean though.

I'm also finding the one leg poses harder, and am hoping to find that these become easier with time. Does it matter that I cannot raise my leg as high as shown in the tutorial? At the moment, with my weight, there is NO way my leg is getting that high!

This is definitely one of the more difficult poses, however, it does get easier as you practice it. Finding your center of balance can take a while, but when you do you will have much better control over your body and your agility will greatly increase. Just do your best and it will come to you, and you don't have to be perfect, it is more important that you keep trying and eventually one day it will just 'click' and you'll be a master smilies/wink.gif

I find that my ankles are unsteady on any of the one legged poses - my right ankle in particular.
